Getting the Best Results
The ArmDaddy is highly effective, but results can vary depending on the shirt and the wearer. Key factors include:
- Overall Shirt Size – If the shirt is already excessively large, sleeve tailoring can only do so much. Large amounts of fabric may still gather around the armpits and shoulders after alterations. For best results, use shirts that already fit your body reasonably well but need some sleeve tightening.
- Body Shape and Size – Everyone’s build is different, and this can influence how the alteration looks once complete.
- Sleeve Length – The ArmDaddy works best on sleeves that end near the midpoint of the bicep. It primarily tightens the sleeve while only slightly shortening it.
- Expensive Shirts or Delicate Materials – As with any sewing alteration, there’s always a possibility of wear and tear from clutches, needles, pins, and threading. If you’re uncomfortable tailoring a costly shirt, it’s best to hire a professional to do it for you.
- Expectation of Uniform Results – Every shirt is different. Fabric type, cut, and fit will influence the final outcome, so results will naturally vary.
